Lantz Nixon Finishes 4th in 184-Pound
Weight Class at the CAA Championships
BOSTON, MA.
Senior grappler Lantz Nixon placed fourth in the 184-pound weight
class and Campbell finished tenth in the team standings at the 2005
CAA Wrestling Championships.
Nixon went 1-2 on the
day defeating Mike Eastman of George Mason and losing to Joe
Rovelli of Hofstra and TJ Morrison of Rider. The Akron, Ohio
native's day began with an 8-3 loss to Rovelli in the semi-finals.
The lost dropped Nixon to the consolation round where he was
matched up with Eastman.
Nixon defeated Eastman
in an 11-5 regular decision, to advance to the consolation round
final against Morrison, a bout he would lose 7-2. The 1-2 day
brings Nixon's record to 16-6 overall and 7-3 in the
conference.
Casey Galligan lost
his first match of the day to Ryan Cunningham of Rider University
in a Major Decision 15-0. The Proctorville, Ohio native finished
his freshman season 3-17 overall and 2-8 in the CAA.
Hofstra University
took seven of
the ten weight classes to win the CAA Championship.
Campbell placed tenth
of the ten teams present at the championship. On the season
Campbell finished 2-17 overall and 1-7 in the
conference.
