Campbell's Verrelle Wyatt Named Atlantic Sun Male Runner of the Week After Claiming Second Title of Season

MACON, Ga. -- Winning his second-consecutive title of the season, Campbell's Verelle Taylor was announced the Atlantic Sun Runner of the Week by the conference office on Wednesday. In the UNC Wilmington Invitational, Wyatt dominated the field by over 10 seconds, finishing the 5K race in 15:31.57 and shaving off 32 seconds from his time last week.
Overall, the Camels finished second in the race. Wyatt is a native of Copley, Ohio, majoring in kinesiology.
Campbell will be back in action Friday, Sept. 15 at the Adidas Raleigh Invitational.
This is CU's second cross country runner of the week. Senior Alicia Valtin was named Female Runner of the Week last Wednesday after winning the season-opening Campbell Classic; she did not compete in the race this past weekend.
The Atlantic Sun Conference announces the Athlete of the Week every Wednesday during the 2006 cross country season.
The 10-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., includes Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw State, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Florida and Stetson, with Florida Gulf Coast and USC Upstate to compete in 2007.
