Campbell's Verrelle Wyatt Named
Atlantic Sun Male Runner of the Week After Claiming Second Title of
Season
MACON, Ga.
-- Winning his second-consecutive title of the season, Campbell's
Verelle Taylor was announced the Atlantic Sun Runner of the Week by
the conference office on Wednesday. In the UNC Wilmington
Invitational, Wyatt dominated the field by over 10 seconds,
finishing the 5K race in 15:31.57 and shaving off 32 seconds from
his time last week.
Overall, the Camels finished second in the race. Wyatt is a
native of Copley, Ohio, majoring in kinesiology.
Campbell will be back in action
Friday, Sept. 15 at the Adidas Raleigh Invitational.
This is CU's second cross country runner of the week. Senior
Alicia Valtin was named Female Runner of the Week last Wednesday
after winning the season-opening Campbell Classic; she did not
compete in the race this past weekend.
The Atlantic Sun Conference announces the Athlete of the Week
every Wednesday during the 2006 cross country season.
The 10-member league headquartered in Macon, Ga., includes
Belmont, Campbell, ETSU, Gardner-Webb, Jacksonville, Kennesaw
State, Lipscomb, Mercer, North Florida and Stetson, with Florida
Gulf Coast and USC Upstate to compete in 2007.
