Camels Clash with In-State Rival Gardner-Webb with A-Sun Tournament Berth on the Line

BUIES CREEK, N.C. – The Campbell women's soccer season will be on the line Saturday evening at the Eakes Athletic Complex when it meets in-state rival Gardner-Webb for a 5:30 kick-off in the teams' final regular season Atlantic Sun match.
Five teams are still in the running for the last three A-Sun tournament spots, in what is setting up to be an interesting final weekend of conference play. Campbell needs some help to earn its fifth tournament appearance in six years, as it will need to defeat Gardner-Webb Saturday and then have East Tennessee State lose its remaining two matches.
Campbell leads the all-time series over the Bulldogs with a 3-2-1 record since the first meeting in 2001. Gardner-Webb also needs a victory to keep its playoff aspirations alive, but will have to earn its first ever victory at the Eakes Athletic Complex to do so, as the Camels own a 3-0-0 record over the Bulldogs in Buies Creek.
Saturday's match will conclude Campbell's homecoming week. The Camels are 10-3-0 all-time in homecoming matches and have not lost one since 1999 when they were defeated 1-0 by Elon. In last year's homecoming match against North Florida, the Camels rallied to score with less than two minutes remaining in regulation to tie the match before scoring just over three minutes into overtime to record a 2-1 victory.
Offensively, the Camels are led by freshman Kaili Terry. The Carrollton, Texas native scored her third goal of the season last Saturday to give her a team-leading seven points on the '06 campaign. The last time a freshman led CU in scoring was when Susan Perrson finished the 2002 season with 30 points for the Camels.
Samar Azem has been rapidly climbing the Campbell career saves list this season. Azem, a senior from Jos, Nigeria, currently resides in fourth position needing four saves to grab sole possession of third place. Azem's shutout of East Tennessee State last Thursday gave her five solo shutouts on her career, moving her into a tie for fifth place on Campbell's career list.
Gardner-Webb flew out of the gates going 6-1-0 to start the season, but has since sputtered in going 2-5-2 in its last nine games.
Junior Lindsey Gladhill has fueled the Bulldog offense this season, ranking in the top six in the Atlantic Sun in points (18), points per game (1.12), goals (7) and assists (4).
Sophomore keeper Sarah Wyszynski has played in all 16 games between the posts for the Bulldogs this season. Wyszinski has six shutouts on the season to go along with a 1.14 goals against average for Gardner-Webb.
