Volleyball Steps Out of Conference Hosting North Carolina Central

BUIES CREEK,
N.C.-Off to its best Atlantic Sun start in five seasons, the
Campbell volleyball team steps out of league play Tuesday night
when it hosts North Carolina Central at 7:00 pm in Carter Gym.
The Camels (8-11, 2-2 A-Sun) have won five of their last eight
matches overall and three of their last five at home. North
Carolina Central (21-8, 10-0 CIAA) enters the match winners of 14
of its last 15 matches overall including a pair of wins over
Division I South Carolina State.
BLOCK
PARTY: The Camels broke
the school block assist record with 28 against Stetson last
Saturday. This is the third blocking school record that has either
been tied or broken already this season. Against ETSU, Rachel
Templin had 11 blocks, which is a three-game record, and tied the
block assist record with 10.
NO TAMING
TEMPLIN: Campbell senior
Rachel Templin is tearing up the competition. She sits second in
the conference with a .350 attack percentage, which would go down
as the best in Campbell history by over 50 points, and second in
blocks with 1.14 per game.
FEMI IS
FABULOUS: Sophomore Femi
Alabi had the best week of her career last week posting 3.88 kills
per game, 1.75 blocks per game and a .426 attack percentage. The
Jos, Nigeria native, is third on the team averaging 2.78 kills per
game and is second with 1.01 blocks per game on the
season.
HIT ME BABY
ONE MORE TIME: The Camels are
8-1 on the season when they out hit their opponent. The only loss
came against Tennessee-Martin on September 16. CU has out hit
opponents in seven of its last nine matches. In the nine prior
matches, Campbell had out hit opponents just two times.
SERVING
THEM UP & KNOCKING THEM DOWN: Freshman Ashley
Weers is ranked 6th in the nation averaging 0.71 service aces per
game. She has recorded at least one ace in all but two matches on
the season and has 3 or more aces in six matches. Her career-high
of six came in CU's 3-0 victory over Savannah State.
THE NC
CENTRAL SERIES: This is just the
third ever meeting between the two schools and the first since
1990. The Eagles won both prior meetings in the series and the
Camels have yet to take a game.
