Campbell Swimmers Sunk by North Florida 133-72

BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Jackie Kenline broke her own school record in the 1000 yard freestyle, but North Florida led Campbell from start to finish, as the Ospreys defeated Campbell 133-72 Saturday afternoon at the Johnson Memorial Natatorium.

Kenline, a freshman from The Woodlands, Texas, swam away with the 1000 yard freestyle in the second event, besting the seven-swimmer field by nearly 17 seconds in the process of shattering her old school record, set on September 29, by just under five seconds.

UNF raced out to the early lead in the first event, taking two of the three point winning places in the 400 yard medley relay. After Kenline's victory in the 1000 free, Osprey swimmers won the next three events taking a comfortable 63-30 lead after the first five events.
Event four proved to be the most exciting of the three races before the first break. Campbell sprinter Patricia Jimenez posted a time of 0:26.13 seconds in the 50 yard freestyle, only to be bested by three-hundredths of a second by UNF's Chelsea Lewis.

In events eight and nine, UNF built an insurmountable lead by taking the top four places and points in the 100 yard backstroke, and four of five places in the 500 yard freestyle. Kenline shined again for the camels in the 500 free, winning by nearly six seconds for her second individual victory of the day.

The last two evens resulted in a pair of Camel victories. Heidi Shallow won the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:09.20, besting UNF's Krysten Nemecek by just over seven-tenths of a second. The final event, the 400 yard freestyle relay, provided some late-race fireworks for the Camels.

North Florida's A-team held the lead for the first three legs of the race, taking a decent lead to the anchors. Kenline came through for the Camels yet again, catching and then passing UNF anchor Savannah Codd to give the Camels the win.

Campbell will be in action on Friday when they travel to Boiling Springs, N.C. to take on Northeast Conference opponents Gardner-Webb and North Carolina A&T. Start time for the meet is set for 5:00.
