Women's Swimming In Fifth Place After First Day of Radford Thanksgiving Invitational

RADFORD, Va. - Jackie Kenline broke her own school record by nearly four seconds in the 500 freestyle en route to a second place finish to help lead the Camels to fifth place at the end of the first day of the Radford Thanksgiving Invitational Friday.

Kenline's record breaking performance came in the finals of the 500 freestyle. Kenline, who broke the record just 11 days ago, placed the highest of any Camel swimmer on day one, finishing less than a second behind the first place finisher with a time of 5:13.59.

Heidi Shallow also turned in a sixth place finish for the Camels in the 200 IM. Shallow clocked in at 2:17.79 in Event Five, giving the Camels a boost in the team standings.

Patricia Jimenez put points on the board for the Camels in the 50 Freestyle. The sophomore won her heat in putting up the sixth-best overall time of the day with a 25.53 showing.

Georgia Southern sits in first place after day one with a total of 217 points despite not winning a single event. The Eagles posted seven top-five finishes on the day, with three second place finishes.

The invitational will resume Saturday at 10:00 a.m., with the finals set for a 6:00 p.m. start.
