ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Jeremiah Fennell was the lone place winner for
Campbell, finishing fifth in the heavyweight bracket, helping the
Camels to a 10th place finish at the Navy Classic Saturday
afternoon.
Fennell opened the day by winning his first match by pin in 1:17
over McDaniel's Aaron Janowski. Fennell then proceeded to win his
second straight match, taking a 5-2 decision over Rutgers' Mike
D'Amico. Fennell then dropped his next two matches before taking
the fifth place match, pinning McDaniel's Ryan Deiter at 4:59.
Several other Camels posted solid showings. Richie Apolinar (125
lbs.), David Wise (133 lbs.), Kelin Bidelspach (141 lbs.), Brent
Poynter (165 lbs.) and Dillon Landi (174 lbs.) all earned three
victories in the tournament.
Navy won the 13 team tournament with 148.5 team points. Fourteen
Midshipmen put up place winning performances on the day. Bloomsburg
finished a close second with 141.5 points placing 12 wrestlers on
the afternoon.
Campbell will be off for 11 days until they travel to Belmont Abbey
for a team dual on November 29. The non-conference match-up is set
to start at 6:00 p.m.
