GREENSBORO, NC - UNC Greensboro recorded four fall victories as the Spartans topped Campbell 37-12 in a wrestling dual match Thursday at Fleming Gymnasium.

With the victory, Jason Loukides picked up his first dual win as UNCG's head coach.

Junior Jeff Hedges put the Spartans (1-0) out in front 6-0 after the first match by recording a fall victory over Richard Apolinar in 5:19 in the 125 lb. weight class. Campbell followed with a 9-6 win in the 133 lbs. weight class as David Wise scored a 9-6 decision over Mitchell Johnson.

However, junior Chris Bencivenga, who is ranked 20th this week in the 141 lbs. weight class, picked up another fall victory for the Spartans by pinning Caleb Lesnoff in 1:55. Senior Andrew Krieger recorded a 9-1 major decision victory over Chris Mazzatta at 149.

Campbell claimed the next two matches, as Steve Wiktorek pinned Nathan Berryman in 3:58 at 157 and Brent Poynter notched a 6-2 victory at 165. However, the Spartans bounced back with a victory by fall at 174 and a forfeit win at 814 to secure the dual match.

The Camels return to action Dec. 29-30 in the Southern Scuffle hosted by UNCG at the Greensboro Coliseum. The tournament will feature six nationally-ranked teams as well as 67 ranked individuals.
