Campbell Drops a Pair in Matches
Against ACC Opponents With Loss to Duke
BUIES CREEK,
N.C.The Campbell wrestling team fell to 0-2 against Atlantic
Coast Conference opponents in after dropping a 38-3 decision to
Duke at home. The loss drops the Camels to 3-9 on the season, while
Duke gets its first win of the season to move to 1-8.
The Blue Devils jumped out to an early lead winning the first
eight matches. The Blue Devils only pin of the night, came when
Michael Degli Obizzi pinned R.J. Mazzatta. Mazzatta normally
wrestles in the 125-pound weight class for the Camels but was
called into action due to injuries to other Campbell wrestlers.
Campbell's lone victory of the evening came at the 197-pound
division. Jason Cook, improved his record to 17-12 on the year,
with a 9-5 win over Patrick Keenum.
Earlier in the day, the Campbell team traveled to Raleigh, N.C
to face North Carolina State. The Camels dropped a 36-15 decision
to the Wolfpack.
The Camels return to action on Tuesday. The team will face
Apprentice and Belmont Abbey in a pair of Dual matches beginning at
5:00 p.m.
