CREEK, N.C. - Richard Jata scored a hat trick to lift the 2006
varsity to a 4-1 victory over the alumni Saturday in Campbell's
annual Alumni game at the Eakes Athletic Complex.
Jata, a sophomore from Port Richey, Fla., tallied three goals in
the first 38 minutes of the contest for the varsity men. He struck
direct kicks in the third and 23rd minutes, then scored inside the
box 15 minutes later.
Julian Fulton gave the varsity a 4-0 halftime edge when a 44th
minute goal off Alex Bruemmer's assist.
Otis Burris, a first-team all-conference performer in 2000 for the
Camels, redirected John Izzo's 49th minute throw-in for the Alumni
goal.
Alumni keeper Billy Englishby made nine saves in the
nets.
Campbell entertains UNC Wilmington next Saturday (Aug. 26) at 7:00
p.m. in the regular season opener.
