Women's Basketball Travels To High Point

BUIES CREEK, N.C.-The Campbell University women's basketball team (4-3) will start a brief two-game road swing with a trip to High Point's Millis Center on Thursday, Nov. 29 to tangle with Big South rival High Point (3-3). The game is slated to start at 7 p.m.

This will be the second of three consecutive Big South opponents for the Camels. Campbell fell to Coastal Carolina by a 61-54 margin on Tuesday, Nov. 27 at Carter Gym.

Leading the team this season is pair of seniors. Maggie Rich is averaging 13.7 points per game while Marlena Murphy is adding 13.2 points and 8.7 rebounds per contest. Rich had 17 points in the Camels last outing, including a perfect night from beyond the arc after hitting all three of her three point attempts.

High Point is looking to bounce back after falling to UNC Wilmington in a close 62-60 contest on Tuesday.

The Panthers are being led this season by a pair of freshmen. LaTeisha Dean is averaging 11.2 points per game. Jurica Hargraves is adding 10.8 points per game. Ashlee' Samuels is team's leading rebounder at 7.8 per game.

High Points holds the series lead between the two teams at 15-6, with the first meeting dating back to 1972 when CU defeated HPU 59-46. The teams locked up twice last season. The Panthers defeated Campbell 89-74 in Buies Creek and then again 70-53 in a New Year's tournament hosted by Florida Atlantic.

Thursday's game can be heard live through a web broadcast on Campbell's website, GoCamels.com as Campbell broadcaster Clint Oftedahl calls the game.

After Thursday's game, CU will be off for final examinations until Dec. 12 when they travel to UNC Asheville for the final game of their Big South slate.
