BUIES CREEK, N.C.-Lipscomb used balanced attack of offensive and
defensive efficiency to blank Campbell in Atlantic Sun volleyball
action Friday night inside Carter Gym.
The Lady Bisons attacked the net with a .227 percentage with 45
kills, nine aces and 47 digs in the win, compared to CU's .031
rate, 24 kills, one ace and 39 digs.
Campbell falls to 9-18 on the year, with a 2-8 A-Sun record, while
the Bisons improve to 16-9 and 7-3 in league play.
The Fighting Camels, averaging 2.49 aces per game heading into
tonight's matchup, mustered only one against the Lady Bisons,
hindering the Campbell offense.
CU's Elisabeth Ennis, a freshman setter from Fayetteville, N.C,
tallied 19 helpers on the night with five digs and three block
assists, while junior middle blocker Femi Alabi notched eight kills
on the night, leading the Campbell offense.
Defensively, sophomore libero Melissa Harvey, a native of Crystal
Lake, Ill., grabbed 14 digs, and middle blocker Ashley Weers, also
a sophomore, led the blocking attack with five block assists.
Caitlin Bendy and Brandy Worlton, both freshmen middle blockers,
got in on the action as well, notching four block assists a
piece.
For the Lady Bisons, freshman middle blocker Alex Kelly knocked 13
kills on 26 attempts with only one error, hitting .462 against the
Camels. The Kansas City, Mo. native also tallied a pair of block
assists and two digs.
Junior outside hitter Sarah Snider killed 12 balls in the
three-gamer, with six digs, four aces and two block assists, doing
it all for Lipscomb.
The Fighting Camels will be back in action tomorrow for their last
home contest of the year, facing the Bruins of Belmont. The match,
beginning at 2 p.m. will also serve as the squad's last A-Sun
meeting.
