Campbell's Alicia Valtin Named to U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Cross Country All-Academic Team

BUIES CREEK, N.C.-Campbell senior Alicia Valtin has been named to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team announced on Thursday. Valtin is the two-time defending Atlantic Sun Cross Country Runner of the Year and last weekend was named A-Sun Female Indoor Track Most Outstanding Athlete.

Valtin, an elementary education major, won four of the six regular season races she entered this past season and has won eight of the last 10 regular season meets over the past two seasons.

The Sanford, N.C. native became just the second Campbell athlete to ever qualify for the NCAA Championships with a 19th place finish at the NCAA Southeast Regional.

To earn All-Academic individual honors, runners were required to have at least a cumulative GPA of 3.25. Seventy-six individuals earned All-Academic honors for the 2006 cross country season.

Valtin was the lone Atlantic Sun student-athlete on the individual list, while Belmont received team honors. Stanford was named All-Academic Team of the Year.
