Women's Tennis Claims 5-2 Victory Over Coastal Carolina

BUIES CREEK, N.C.— The Campbell women's tennis team won all three doubles matches and four of the six singles matches to earn a 5-2 victory over Coastal Carolina Thursday afternoon at the Nisbet Tennis Center.

Campbell (16-4, 5-3 A-Sun) came out strong to earn the doubles point with three doubles wins.

The team of Liza Bensimon and Iva Stojancev picked up its sixth-straight win with an 8-2 decision over Coastal's Sofie Ahlberg and Sarize Coetzee at number-three. With the win, the duo improved its record to 16-3.

Bensimon and Stojancev each earned singles wins on the day as well. Stojancev defeated Kimberly Webb at number-four, and Bensimon triumphed over Ahlberg at number-five.

Campbell's sisters, Nina and Ana Surviladze, also picked up singles and doubles wins against Coastal (15-5), first teaming together to defeat Maria Camberos and Webb 9-7 at the two-spot.

Ana, a freshman, went on to earn a 6-3, 6-4 win over Amy Pazahanick at number-three singles, and Nina, a junior, defeated Camberos 6-4, 6-4 at number-six.

Scarlet Alfonzo and Blanca Saenz captured the number-one doubles victory, triumphing over Hayley Rudman and Pazahanick 9-8. The team improved its record to 11-6.

Coastal's Rudman and Coetzee earned the one and two-spot singles victories, but those were the only wins for the Chanticleers.

The Lady Camels return to action Tuesday, April 10 when they take on Longwood in Farmville, Va. Matches are scheduled to start at 2:00.
