ALPHARETTA, GA. Fredric Sundberg
of Campbell University shot a three-over-par 75 on Friday in the
second round of the NCAA East Regional men's golf championship at
the Golf Club of Georgia.
A junior from Gothenburg,
Sweden, Sundberg made 13 pars, one birdie and four bogeys during
his second round on the par-72, 7017 Lakeside Course. He has made par on 26 of his first 36
holes in the 54-hole event.
Following Thursday's 76,
Sundberg is tied for 70th place with a two-day total of 151 strokes
in the 141-player field.
Top-ranked Georgia leads the
27-team field at two-under-par 574, one strokes better than
Florida. Sundberg was one
of six individuals chosen for the regional. The top 10 teams and two individuals
not among those 10 schools will move on to the NCAA Championship, May 30-June 2 at the Gold Course
at Golden Horseshoe Golf Club in Williamsburg,
Va.
Cameron
Tringale (67-70137) of Georgia Tech holds a two-stroke lead
over Georgia's Brendon Todd (70-69139) for individual honors
after 36 holes. Sundberg
(76-75151) is the low individual among the four Atlantic Sun
Conference players chosen for the field. Russel Knox of Jacksonville is at
eight-over 152 (74-78), while Jeff Dennis of North Florida (74-79)
and Jacksonville' Duncan Stewart (82-71) both enter the final round
at plus-nine 153.
Saturday's
final round is scheduled to start at 7:00 a.m. from both the No. 1
and No. 10 tees. The last
