MACON, Ga.—Campbell's Alicia Valtin was named Atlantic Sun Female Track & Field Athlete of the Week for the second time this year after placing fourth in the steeplechase at the prestigious Penn Relays last Thursday.

Valtin, a senior from Sanford, N.C., broke her own school record by over nine seconds as she finished the steeplechase with a time of 10:24.72. Her time is currently 18th best in the nation and 10th best in the East Region. Along with breaking a school record and moving up in the national standings in the event, Valtin's time extended her lead over the rest of the Atlantic Sun to over 78 seconds.

The time was her third NCAA regional qualifying mark of the season in the steeplechase. She has also qualified for the NCAA East Regional in Gainesville, Fla. on May 25-26 in the 1500 meter race.

The award is the second for Valtin this outdoor season and her fourth overall. She was also honored during the 2006 indoor season and earned her first AOTW honor for track and field during the 2005 outdoor season. Along with her four track and field AOTW awards, Valtin has also been tabbed the A-Sun's Athlete of the Week five times over the past two season's in cross country. In all, Valtin has been honored as an A-Sun AOTW nine times.

Valtin and the Camels travel to Lynchburg, Va. tomorrow night for the Liberty Twilight Qualifier in their final preparation for the Atlantic Sun Championships on May 11-12 in Johnson City, Tenn.
