Alejandra Shaw of Campbell University added a second A-Sun Golfer
of the Month honor Thursday to her long list of accomplishments for
the 2006-07 season and her four-year career.
The two-time
A-Sun Player of the Year and league individual champion garnered
the fourth monthly award of her career following a record-breaking
showing at last month's conference championship.
On Apr. 9-11,
at Keith Hills Country Club No. 1, Shaw became just the fourth
player in A-Sun history to win multiple championships. In doing so, she set an A-Sun
Championship and school 54-hole scoring record (four-under
73-69-70212).
She also was
named A-Sun Player of the Year for second-straight year and earned
first-team all-conference recognition for the third-consecutive
season. The senior from
Vina del Mar, Chile led the A-Sun in scoring average and ranked
number-35 in the latest Golfstat Cup ratings (74.1).
In nine outings
this season, Shaw has produced seven top-11 finishes, including
three top-fives. Last
month, she was also named Campbell's Outstanding Female Athlete for
second-straight year
Last fall, Shaw
was named A-Sun Golfer of the Month for September, then went on to
represent Chile in the World Amateur Team Championship.
Shaw and
Campbell junior Maite Ortiz de Pinedo became the 15th and 16th
individuals in the history of the league to earn A-Sun
all-conference women's golf honors three times in their
careers. Shaw is a
three-time, first-team selection, while Ortiz de Pinedo gained
second-team honors both in 2005 and 2006.
Shaw and the
Fighting Camels continue their season May 10-12 at the NCAA West
Regional Championship in St. George, Utah.
