Campbell Softball Inks Two-Time Canadian U-18 National Champion Katie Woodcock

BUIES CREEK, N.C.—Campbell head softball coach Drew Peterson announced the signing of Katie Woodcock for the 2008 season. Woodcock helped guide the Markham Jaguars to a pair of Canadian U-18 National Championships.

This past summer, Woodcock hit .347 with 17 RBI and six stolen bases in 61 games for the Jaguars. The 5-foot-6 shortstop committed just nine errors in 371 innings and compiled a 12-2 pitching record. She posted a 0.88 ERA with 128 strikeouts and just 22 walks in 96.0 innings of work in the circle.

"We are very excited to have such a high quality individual and talented player joining us," Peterson said. "She has been a part of teams that have experienced tremendous success. She is an outstanding student athlete with strong Christian character."

She prepped at G.L. Roberts High School in Oshawa, Ontario where she was named MVP of her team her sophomore, junior and senior seasons.

Woodcock joins nine other newcomers to the Fighting Camel roster for the upcoming season. Campbell finished third at the Atlantic Sun Tournament in 2007.
