ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Fredric Sundberg paced Campbell golfers Saturday with a 48th-place finish at the William H. Tucker Invitational hosted by the University of New Mexico.

Sundberg finished the 54-hole event at 11-over 227 (73-78-76). Jesse Barnsley of Pepperdine won individual honors at 12-under 204 (66-67-71), eight strokes better than runners-up Jacob Lestishen of New Mexico and Eric Shriver of Pepperdine.

Pepperdine claimed the team title at even-par 864 (289-286-289), four strokes ahead of San Diego State. Campbell finished 17th at 920 (306-306-308) strokes.

The 7,350-yard, par 72 layout has been nationally recognized by Golf Digest Magazine as one of the top-25 public courses in the country, and by Golfweek Magazine as the No. 1 course to play in New Mexico.

The University of New Mexico Championship Course was the site of the 1976, 1992 and 1998 NCAA Division I Men's Golf Championships as well as the 1991, 1995 and 2002 NCAA West Regional, Nationwide Tour events and the New Mexico State Open. In 1987 the course was the site of the Women's NCAA Championship and will again host the ladies championships in 2008.

Campbell continues its fall schedule Oct. 1-2 at the Xavier Invitational in Loveland, Ohio.
