GREENVILLE, N.C.- Campbell's defense couldn't hold on as Amy
Szilard scored early in the second half to propel ECU past the
Fighting Camels 1-0, Friday evening at Bunting Field. With the loss Campbell drops to 1-4-0,
while the Pirates improve their mark to 4-1-2.
Szilard, a sophomore forward from Frankfort, Ill., broke the
scoreless tie in the 54th minute as she took a pass from
Madison Keller and headed it into the back of the net. The game winner marks Szilard's second
goal of the season.
Campbell, who didn't record a shot on goal, continued its offensive
struggles as Danielle Mandela and Ashley Wagner were the only two
Camel players to tally shots in the match.
Freshman keeper Boomie Luck was solid yet again, as she stopped six
Pirate shots, while ECU's Amber Campbell, who recorded her fifth
shut-out of the season, did not stop a shot in 90 minutes.
With the win ECU remains unbeaten at home this season, and improves
its all-time record against Campbell to 8-4-1.
The Fighting Camels will start their conference schedule Thursday,
Sept. 27, as they battle the Belmont Bruins at 7:00 p.m., in Buies
Creek.
