The
Campbell women's basketball team hosted their annual "Girl Scout
Day" last weekend on Jan. 26.
The day
consisted of nearly 100 North Carolina Coastal Pines Girl Scouts
and their parents getting a ticket and watching the Camels defeated
Stetson 65-45 in the early afternoon. CU then hosted a free
fundamental basketball clinic for the Girl Scout Brownies and
Juniors at Buies Creek Elementary School later in the day with the
full team and coaching staff on hand to give personal
instruction.
"The clinic on January 26 provided local Girl Scouts the
opportunity to interact with fabulous collegiate athletes and an
amazing head coach," said Robin
Smith, the Program Director for the Girl Scouts- North
Carolina Coastal Pines. "Girl Scouts - North
Carolina Coastal Pines values the relationship we share with
Campbell University and look forward to continuing the Girl Scout
Women's Basketball Game and Clinic in conjunction with National
Girls and Women in Sports Day."
"The
fun-filled day was everything I hoped it would be," head coach
Wanda Watkins stated. "The day gave our
players and coaching staff the opportunity to give back and spend
time with a tremendous group of Girl Scouts. We had a great time
and are already looking forward to next year's day out."
