Women's Soccer Drops A-Sun Contest to Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, FLA. – Two early goals propelled the Jacksonville Dolphins over Campbell 3-0 on Thursday evening. The Camels move to 3-7-3 on the year and 2-4-1 in league action after the loss. Jacksonville advances to 7-7-1 for the season and 4-3-0 in conference play.

The Dolphins came out firing early in the first half to gain the early advantage. Sophomore Jelena Vrcelj put Jacksonville on the board just seven minutes into the game as she buried the ball into the left corner of the goal off of an assist from Keri Swikker.

Vrcelj struck again less than five minutes later to give the Dolphins a 2-0 lead. She received a pass from fellow forward Jessica Hurtado and slipped a shot just past Camel goalkeeper Boomie Luck.

Sophomore Sian Senior scored the final goal of the evening for Jacksonville to secure the victory. After a corner kick, Senior was able to collect a loose ball inside the 18 yard box and knock it in the goal to make the final score 3-0.

The Camels will return to action as they make the short trip across Jacksonville to take on North Florida at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
