BUIES CREEK, N.C. After hosting A-Sun member USC Upstate on
Thursday night, Campbell will have to turnaround and hit the road
as they travel to Johnson City, Tenn. to take on East Tennessee
State on Saturday afternoon.
The Camels (2-5-2, 1-3 A-Sun) return to action for the first time
since dropping a narrow 1-0 decision to Stetson on Saturday. Campbell will look to rebound
from the loss as they face the Spartans on Thursday. It will be just the second time that
the two schools have met each other. The two schools met for the first time
last season in the Spartans first season in the Atlantic Sun.
Last week goalkeeper Boomie Luck received A-Sun Defensive Player of
the Week honors after recording her second shutout of the season
against Lipscomb. Kaili
Terry has led the charge offensively for the Camels after tallying
her third goal of the year against Belmont.
USC Upstate (3-9-0, 1-4-0 Atlantic Sun) is coming off a 2-1 loss to
ETSU on Tuesday night. Key
Knepp scored the lone goal for the Spartans to cut the lead to 2-1
but they couldn't overcome the Buccaneers. Last weekend Upstate recorded their
lone conference win this season as they beat Lipscomb 2-1.
Caitlin Robinson and Santana DeFreitas has led the scoring for the
Spartans this season. Both
have tallied two goals so far this season and five others have
scored one goal on the year.
East Tennessee State (5-6-0, 3-2-0 A-Sun) comes into Saturday's
after winning back-to-back conference matches. The Buccaneers defeated Belmont on
Sunday before beating USC Upstate on Tuesday. Kelly Brinkman scored two goals for
the Bucs in less than three minutes to lead them to victory over
the Spartans.
Brinkman leads the team with three goals this season while Jordan
Monty and Rachel van Horn each have two goals this season. Megan Masch has been solid in
goal for ETSU as she has posted two shutouts this season.
