BUIES CREEK, N.C. After back-to-back away meets, the
Campbell swimming team returns to the Johnson Natatorium for a pair
of meets this weekend. The
Camels will face-off against the College of Charleston and Wingate
on Friday at 4 p.m. before taking on North Florida on Saturday at
11 a.m.
The Camels will kick off the weekend on Friday against the Cougars
and Bulldogs. The Cougars
come into the match with a 0-3 record to start the season. Junior Cassie Tubb won the 100
and 200-breast in the Cougars' last meet against Davidson.
The Bulldogs come into the match after winning their season opener
against Limestone. Wingate
was led by a pair of freshman who each won two events in their
first collegiate meet.
Malin Kersmark won the 100 and 200-back and fellow freshman Sarah
Lawless claimed victories in the 50 and 100-free.
On
Saturday the Camels will return to the pool to face off against
CCSA foe North Florida.
This meet will mark a special occasion for two separate
reasons. During this meet
six incredible seniors will be honored for their dedication and
service to the team in a special Senior Day ceremony.
The meet will also serve as a way to support the Swim for a Cure
campaign which is aimed to help in the fight against breast
cancer. Complimentary
towels will be handed out to students and they will also be
provided with free pizza courtesy of Papa's Subs and Pizza.
The Ospreys will open up their regular season on Friday afternoon
as they swim against fellow conference member North Carolina
A&T. North Florida will
then turn around and travel to Campbell for the meet on
Saturday. The Lady Ospreys
have 14 returning letter winners from a team that finished fifth in
the CCSA last season.
