BUIES CREEK, N.C.-Senior outfielder Courtney Quinn and sophomore
catcher Amanda Littlejohn combined for eight hits, four homers and
11 RBI to lead Campbell softball over UNC Wilmington 7-3 and 15-3

With the pair of victories, the Camels are off to their best start

batters in 12.0 innings of work. While all three earned runs were
charged to Stanley the West Lafayette, Ind. native never allowed a
walk as she picked up her fourth win of the season.
In
game one, the Camels jumped on the board first taking a 1-0 lead in
the second inning on a Stephan single, scoring sophomore Cassie
Webb. Far from finished, Campbell picked up another run when
Littlejohn, Lake Elsinore, Calif. native, knocked her third homer
of the year to lead off the bottom of the third. Dunn, N.C. product
Amanda Miller, a freshman third baseman, also tallied an RBI in the
inning, nabbing a single and scoring junior first baseman Karlie
Love to make the score 3-0.
Love knocked a two-run homer of her own in the Campbell fourth,
batting in Quinn. Stephan also powered a two-run homer an inning
later, the first of her Camel career, plating sophomore Robin
Leathers in the process to give CU a 7-0 lead.
In
the top of the seventh, UNCW put together a rally however, as
sophomore Morgan Walters and senior Jessica Allen each collected
RBI and Meghan Murray, a senior outfielder, reached crossed the
plate of a double-steal. Stephan and the Camels escaped the inning,
however, ending the game with a 7-3 advantage.
Stephan collected the win for CU, moving to 3-1 on the year. The
Phoenix, Ariz. native fanned eight Seahawks in the seven inning
complete game outing, allowing six hits and three runs, none
earned, while walking just two batters. Amanda Aditays, a freshman
hurler for UNCW, was charged with the loss, throwing six innings
and giving up seven runs on nine hits, walking four with one
strikeout.
In
the nightcap, Campbell picked up where it left off in the first
game, scoring four runs in the first inning. After a Quinn triple,
freshman shortstop Katie Hinton sent a double into left field to
score the senior. Littlejohn then drove in Hinton on a single
before Miller picked up two more RBI on another Camel double,
leaving the Seahawks with a 4-0 deficit after one inning of
play.
After tagging another run in the second on a Quinn homerun, the
Camels pushed five runs across in the third as 10 batters saw
action at the plate. Quinn led the charge in the inning, clubbing
her second dinger of the contest and fifth of the year, a three-run
homer scoring Miller and freshman second baseman Keeli Michael.
Miller and Love also grabbed RBI in the inning on singles to run
the score to 10-0.
UNCW finally narrowed the deficit in the top of the fourth, as
senior shortstop Charla Wacker knocked in senior catcher Lindsay
Styons and freshman first baseman Allison Lanouette.
In
the Campbell fourth, the Camels put up five more runs, highlighted
by an Amanda Littlejohn grand slam, her second homerun of the day
and fourth of the season. Courtney Quinn also collected an RBI in
the inning, pushing freshman Amanda Cline across the plate on a
walk, giving Campbell a 15-2 advantage.
Needing just three outs to end the game early, the Seahawks put
together a short rally in the fifth, but could manage only one run
on two hits, ending the game after five innings with CU on top,
15-3.
Stanley was the pitcher of record for the Camels in the contest,
extending her mark to 4-0 on the season. The sophomore struck out
six in five innings of work, scattering seven hits while giving up
three earned runs without issuing a walk. For the Seahawks,
Samantha Lisowsky took the loss, pitching three innings and giving
up 10 runs on 10 hits, striking out four and walking four.

facing North Carolina at 4 p.m. for another midweek
doubleheader.
