BRASELTON, GA. Victor Hielte
stands fifth individually and Campbell University is second in the
team standings after 36 holes Monday at the Larry Nelson Collegiate
men's golf tournament.

State leads the 14-school event at
13-over 581 (296-285) on the par-71, 6735-yard Chateau Elan Resort
Woodlands Course. Campbell
(306-299605) is second, followed by Central Arkansas and
Gardner-Webb, which are knotted at 613.
Six Atlantic Sun schools are
participating in the event in anticipation of the A-Sun men's golf
championship, which will be held at Chateau Elan.
Hielte, a sophomore from
Gothenburg, Sweden, birdied four of his last five holes to shoot a
plus-three 74 on Monday's first round, then followed with a
one-over-par 72 over the second 18 holes.. The 54-hole tournament concludes
Tuesday.
Oliver West of Kennesaw State
shot a three-under 68 over the second round and is tied with
first-round leader Chris Wolfe from Armstrong Atlantic at one-under
141 atop the 70-man field.
Gideon Pienaar of Central Arkansas is third at plus-one 143
(72-71).
Campbell senior Fredric Sundberg
recovered from a first-round 80 to shoot one-over 72 in the second
18 and move up to a 15th-place tie at plus-10 152. Sophomore Gregg Hostetter is tied for
19th (77-76153), while freshman Matt Moot is tied for 28th
(77-79156) and frosh Zak Drescher is tied for 51st
(78-84162).
