Campbell Football Welcomes 48 Newcomers

BUIES CREEK, N.C.— Campbell University announced the signing of 48 players to scholarship/intent letters to play football for the Camels next fall, head coach Dale Steele announced today. This is the second official signing class for Steele and the Camels, who will begin play this fall with a home game against Birmingham-Southern on August 30 at 1 p.m.

"In the incoming freshman class we have added athleticism and depth at every position," head coach Dale Steele explained. "Obviously we feel we did well with what we did last fall, but this class is more of a well-rounded class. We brought someone in at every position that now fits what we are doing offensively and defensively. Our first season we recruited as many football players as we could and brought them together not knowing exactly what our personality was going to be on offense or defense. We had an idea, but we didn't know for sure. I think what we were able to do with class was put together a group that is much more suited to our scheme both offensively and defensively."

Campbell's football team reports to campus on August 4. The Camels will host an open house of the CU Football Stadium and Fieldhouse on August 9 for all fans from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. All fans are welcome to meet and take pictures of the players, coaching staff and the facility at that point. Further details about the event will follow in a later release.
