CREEK,
N.C. CampbellUniversityand the Christian Listening Network
have once again reached an agreement for WCLN 107.3 FM to become
the flagship station for all football and men's basketball
broadcasts on the Campbell University Radio Network.
As the marquee signal for the
Christian Listening Network, Christian 107.3 will be the broadcast
home for all regular season football and men's basketball contests
and provide extended coverage into all postseason games.
During the 2008-2009 athletic
year, WCLN will be broadcasting some of the most exciting events in
the long history of Campbell University, including the return of
football to the field after a 58 year absence and the opening of
the John W. Pope Jr. Convocation Center. The original contract in 2007 marked
the first time in the radio network's history that Campbell
University had reached an agreement with a commercial FM signal
after more than three decades of non-commercial
broadcasting.
"We are once again very
excited to be partnering with WCLN to broadcast one of the most
exciting athletic years in Campbell history," said Assistant
Athletic Director and radio voice Robert Harper. "WCLN has always had a strong
tradition of Christian broadcasting and it this partnership is a
great fit for both Campbell and WCLN."
Licensed by the Federal
Communication Commission to Clinton, N.C., WCLN's broadcast signal
reaches parts of 21 counties in southeastern North Carolina
including all of Harnett, Cumberland, Johnston, and Sampson
counties. The station's
signal also covers a majority of Wake County, including a large
portion of Raleigh.
The Christian Listening
Network first began broadcasting contemporary Christian music and
programs in 1994 and moved to its Fayetteville studios in
2000. The station reports
its music play lists to the authoritative chart service Radio and
Records for compilation into the weekly music ratings. Often referred to as "Christian
107.3," the station is one of the last family friendly stations in
the Fayetteville area.
Campbell opens its football schedule
on Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. kick-off at home vs.
Birmingham-Southern. The
Campbell University Radio Network pre-game show starts at 12:30
p.m. on WCLN 107.3 FM.

Campbell fans outside the WCLN
listening area will be able to watch and listen to a majority of
Fighting Camel home and away events online. Football, men's and women's
basketball, men's and women's soccer, baseball, softball,
volleyball, and wrestling will all be available through the
school's athletic website www.GoCamels.com.
"This will be our second year
of video web steaming here at Campbell and we only expect the
coverage to get better," said Harper. "We have additional staff and more
cameras to give fans sitting at home watching online the most
complete experience possible."
Internet streaming prices are
made available well in advance of each team's specific sport
season. Football season
passes for online viewing are set at $34.95 each, while men's and
women's soccer along with volleyball can be purchased in our fall
sports pass for only $24.95.
Streaming events begin this
week for women's soccer (Tuesday vs. Longwood at 7:00 p.m.) and
men's soccer (Friday at 7:00 p.m. vs. UNC
Wilmington).
Bridgers joins football
broadcast team
Joining Harper
in the booth for the 2008 football season is veteran coach Mickey
Bridgers. He is in his first season as analyst for the Campbell
University Radio Network.
Bridgers joins the Fighting
Camels after 14 years with South Johnston High School as football
coach and most recently the school's athletic director. He also spent nine years as athletic
director at Northern Nash High School. He retired from the Johnston County
School System June 30, 2008 after 30 years in the
classroom.
