DURHAM, N.C. -
Elisabeth Redmond scored two goals to pace host Duke past Campbell
on Friday night in Koskinen Stadium. It was Redmond's second and
third goal of the season to lead the Blue Devils this season.
The Camels (0-1-1)
were able to stay close with the No. 10 Blue Devils (2-0-0) in the
first half behind the play of goalkeeper Boomie Luck. Luck recorded
11 first half saves as Duke registered 23 shots in the half. Her
only blemish in the half was when Redmond scored off of a rebound
in the 24th minute to give the Blue Devils a 1-0 at the
break.
Just eight minutes
into the second half Redmond struck again to extend the lead to
2-0. She was able to chip the ball over Luck from 25 yards out off
of an assist from KayAnne Gummersall and Cody Newman.
Five minutes later in
the 57th minute Jane Alukonis converted on a penalty
kick to push the lead to 3-0. Chelsea Canepa finished the scoring
for Duke in the 89th minute. Canepa received a pass from
Carey Goodman and one timed it into the right side of the net.
The Camels will
continue their four-game road trip on Monday as they travel to
Boone, N.C. to face Appalachian State at 4 p.m.
