BUIES CREEK, N.C. The Campbell wrestling team fell in a
Saturday afternoon bout with the Virginia Cavaliers at the John W.
Pope, Jr. Convocation Center by a final score of 32-9. The Camels fell to 2-8 on the year
with the loss.
CJ
Gittens highlighted the CU attack with his decisive opening
decision by a final score of 8-3 over Wyatt Anderson at the 125
pound weight class. That
would give the CU grapplers a 3-0 lead to open the match.
After a Matt Bonson technical fall at the 133 pound weight class,
the Camels would bounce back to take a 9-5 lead with Kelin
Bidelsbach's win via forfeit.
The Campbell lead would be short-lived, however, as the Wahoos
scored victories by way of major decision or technical fall in five
of the seven remaining bouts of the afternoon.
The Camels will be back in action on Tuesday evening, January 27
when they play host to the Runnin' Bulldogs of Gardner-Webb. The match will start at 6:00
pm.
