NASHVILLE, TENN.-Campbell connected on
only 25 percent of its shot attempts as Lipscomb handed the Lady
Camels a 69-45 loss in Atlantic Sun women's basketball action
Thursday night inside Allen Arena.
Campbell falls to 8-6 overall
and 1-4 in league play, while the Lipscomb snaps a seven game
losing streak to improve to 3-11 on the year and 1-4 in A-Sun
action.
Sophomore forward Lauren Yesh
led the Lady Camels with 10 points and a career-high eight rebounds
in the loss, her fourth consecutive game in double figures. Senior
guard Jessica Mack added seven points on the night, while freshman
forward Whitney Ferguson and junior center Ashley Williamson
chipped in six points each.
Sophomore forward Cree Nix
fueled the Bisons in the win, registering 15 points, including 10
in the second half, while freshman guard Chelsea Burroughs and
junior forward Miriam McAlister added 13 tallies each. Nix also
recorded seven rebounds on the night.
The Lady Camels opened the
contest shooting 22 percent in the first half, including a 0-5
performance from long distance. Lipscomb also owned the battle of
the boards, topping CU 27-16 in the category over the first 20
minutes.
Seven Bisons scored in the
fist half, while LU non-starters chipped in 20 points in the frame.
Yesh provided a spark for the Lady Camels, however, leading
Campbell with seven points and six rebounds.
After leading by as many as
12 in the first, the Bisons pushed their advantage to 20 at the
14:20 mark on a Bartsokas three. The Lady Camels chipped the lead
to 15 at 11:10 on a Katelyn Bass lay-in, but the Bisons push ended
the game with a 69-45 win, holding the Lady Camels to their lowest
point total of the season. Campbell has combined for just 93 points
in its last two outings.
Campbell will head to Belmont on
Saturday, completing its Nashville leg of A-Sun play.
