BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell's swim team (2-1) has a busy week of
action on the schedule this week and are competing on both Friday
and Saturday. The Camels start the week with a dual meet against
North Carolina A&T and College of Charleston on Oct. 23 at 2
p.m. at the Stern Center. CU will then travel to Greenville, N.C.
to take on Marshall, Towson and East Carolina in a quad-meet on
Oct. 24 at 1 p.m. at the Minges Aquatic Center.
The Camels split their meet last week in Boiling Springs with a
117-87 loss to Gardner-Webb and a 166-21 win over Florida
A&M.
Campbell freshman Magda Kedracka broke the
school's 200-butterfly mark with her event winning time of 2:12.34.
Kedracka also placed third in the 400-IM (4:47.00) and was part of
the winning 400 freestyle relay team (3:43.18) with Jackie
Kenline, Kaitlyn Tunstall and Ashlyn
Stumpf.
Kenline also had a strong individual meet for Campbell with
victories in the 100-free (54.77) and 200-free (1:57.93). Stumpf
aided the team with an individual victory in the 50-free (24.87)
and a runner-up finish in the 100-free (55.33).
CU picked up a total of five individual victories against
Gardner-Webb and Florida A&M and 12 top-three finishes.
College Charleston is 1-1 on the season and lost to Old Dominion by
a 185-106 score over the weekend. North Carolina A&T fell to
Campbell 155-45 to open the 2009 season. Marshall (0-2) lost to
West Virginia on Oct. 17 by a margin of 126-103. The Thundering
Herd were able to win five events in the team loss. Towson (1-0)
has won six straight dual meets and defeated William & Mary
173.50-124.50 on Oct. 10. Meredith Budner and Cari Czarnecki were
both able to win three events for the Tigers during the meet.
Czarnecki was honored as the Co-Swimmer of the Week by the Colonial
Athletic Association on Oct. 13. East Carolina defeated Davidson
last weekend (183-116). ECU's Rachel Blue was named the Conference
USA Swimmer of the Week this week after winning 200 and
500-freestyle.
Next, Campbell's swimming program heads to Raleigh to take on North
Carolina State and Richmond on Oct. 31 at 11 a.m.
