DELAND, FLA.-Emily Werner posted 15 kills
to lead Campbell past Stetson 3-0 (25-23, 25-22, 25-23), as the
Camels set a new single season conference wins record with nine
over league opponents.
Campbell moves to 16-10 on the season and 9-6 in Atlantic Sun play,
moving past the 1998 squad's eight conference wins. The Camels also
improve to 13-3 away from Buies Creek this season, including a 6-1
mark in A-Sun road contests. The Hatters, meanwhile, fall to 1-22
overall and 0-16 in conference.
Werner's 15 kills came on 32 attempts with just one error, hitting
.438 in the match. The Sarasota, Fla. native also posted six digs
and five blocks for 19.5 points. Senior middle blocker Ashley
Weers collected eight kills on the night on 20 swings with one
error for a .350 rate, adding a pair of blocks and two digs.
Junior middle blocker Caitlin Bendy led the Camels
with eight total blocks, including seven assisted and one solo. The
Stony Brook, N.Y. native also chipped in four kills with two aces.
Junior outside hitter Allyson Goldbach recorded
seven kills with eight digs, two aces and two blocks, while
freshman outside hitter Jordan Reaves tallied three
kills and 10 digs.
Sophomore setter Hope Leatigaga added five
kills on nine attempts without an error, also pushing 22 assists
with 10 digs. Senior libero Sarah Hill grabbed a
team-high 11 digs.
Junior outside hitter Stephanie Canfield led the Hatters' efforts,
notching 10 kills, while sophomore Kaylee Ream added eight scores,
five digs and three aces. Sam Freeman and Brandy Worlton tagged
seven kills apiece on the night, while senior libero Anna Becker
posted 21 digs for Stetson.
The Camels will head to Florida Gulf Coast tomorrow, facing off
with the Eagles at 6 p.m. inside Alico Arena in Ft. Myers.
