BUIES CREEK, N.C. -The Fighting Camel softball program, who are the
two-time defending Atlantic Sun Conference Tournament Champions,
announced today, Dec. 23, that they will hold five clinics on
Jan. 16 inside the Willard B. Harris Indoor Training Center and the
Eakes Softball Field. The clinics will be for ages 8-18 and are
scheduled for Jan. 16 starting at 10 a.m. with the aged 14-18
pitching clinic and the ages 8-13 defensive clinic.
The hitting clinic is to take place between 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
on Jan. 16. The clinic is for participants between the ages of
8-18. Preregistration on the day of the event will begin at 1 p.m.
The cost will be $50. The clinic will teach
participants the mechanics and drills necessary to be feared
hitter. A 5-to-1 teaching ratio is targeted, with an emphasis on
individual attention. All aspects of hitting will be taught first
through demonstration and mirroring format, then the participants
will be able to practice through repetition at the drill
stations.
The second clinic Campbell softball is hosting is a pair of
pitching clinic. The pitching clinic will be broken up into two
different age groups. The first clinic will see the 14-18 aged
group start the day on the morning of Jan. 16 with preregistration
scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. The first session with the older
children is from 10 a.m. to noon. The second session of pitching
will be for youngsters between the ages of 8-13 and is scheduled to
take place from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. also Jan. 16. Preregistration for
this session is expected to start at 5:30 p.m. The cost of
each of the pitching clinics is $35. Those that want to participate
in the pitching clinic will need to provide their own catcher (who
will not be charged for participation in the session). The
pitching clinics are geared toward helping each pitcher better
understand the pitching process and to take the next step in their
pitching development.
The fourth and
fifth clinics will focus on defense. The defensive clinics
will broken up into two different age groups. Those between the
ages of 8-13 will go from 10 a.m. to noon. Those campers between
the ages of 14-18 are scheduled for 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The
cost of each of the defensive clinics is $35. The two
clinics are designated to address all aspects of fast pitch
softball and will be tailored to each age group. A teaching ratio
of 8-1 will be targeted, with individual attention being the point
of emphasis.
