WILMINGTON,
N.C. Amanda Miller homered twice and scored three times to
lead Campbell's softball team (7-4) to a 10-1 win in the first game
of the doubleheader with UNC Wilmington (1-6) on Thursday afternoon
at Boseman Field. Miller's home runs were two of
Campbell's six in the game.
Campbell
scored four in the first inning. Miller singled to start the game
and was aboard on Karlie Love's seventh home run of the year. After
Lauren Stephan was hit by a pitch, freshman Christina Melton then
belted her third home run of the year to give the Camels a four run
first.
UNC
Wilmington tallied a run of their own in the first as the fielding
error by the CU third baseman scored Morgan Walters.
The
Camels power barrage continued in the second inning with three more
runs via the long ball. Melissa Elks started the frame reaching on
a Seahawk throwing error and came in to score on Keeli Michael's
first home run of the season. Miller made it back-to-back with a
solo blast to make the score 7-1.
The
Camels closed the game with three more run in the sixth all by
driven in by the home run. After a walk to Michael, Miller blasted
her second home run of the game. McGee made it back-to-back with
her fourth home run of the year.
Stephan
picked up her third win of the season going the first five innings
with one unearned run allowed and six strikeouts. The loss went to
Amanda Davenport and dropped her record to 1-2.
