JOHNSON,
Tenn. Campbell's softball team (20-7, 6-2 Atlantic Sun)
behind the power of three solo home runs took the second game of
the doubleheader, 4-0, over ETSU (15-9, 0-4 Atlantic Sun) at Lady
Bucs Stadium. The Camels won the first game by a 4-2 count earlier
in the day.
Christina
Melton (8-4) gave herself the best birthday present of all with a
win in the second game over ETSU. Melton went the first six innings
with only five hits allowed. Katie Woodcock pitched the last inning
perfect for CU. The loss went to Ashley Boyd (1-2), who allowed
four runs in seven innings.

game. Keeli Michael reached on a fielder's choice and came around
to score on Karlie Love's RBI single.
Michael
added a run to Campbell's lead in the fifth inning with a solo home
run. The blast was her second of the season. Michael had a strong
doubleheader with four hits, three RBIs, a
double and a home run.

threw out Vicki McCoy at the plate on a relay throw as she tried to
score from second on Annie Martin's double.
Brittany
Stanley added a run to CU's lead (3-0) with a solo home run in the
sixth. The home run was Stanley's fifth of the season and second of
the road trip.

final margin to 4-0
Game One
(Campbell 4 and ETSU 2 eight innings)
In the
first game the Lady Bucs were able to push the first run across in
the third inning. Cheniece Cason broke up the perfect game to that
point with a two-out bunt single. Katie Powell followed with a bunt
single of her own. Amy Campbell then pushed a single through the
infield to score Cason from second.
The
Camels took the lead in the fifth inning. Robin Leathers singled to
short. Christina Melton was able to push a single past the second
baseman just before Keeli Michael singled to short right field.
Lizzie Goldbach then ripped a single to left field to plate
Leathers and Melton and give Campbell a 2-1 lead.
The Lady
Bucs tied the game in the seventh inning. Annie Martin singled to
start the frame. Vicki McCoy then walked. Jessie Hackworth was then
hit with a 3-2 offering in the elbow to load the bases. After a
foul out, Katie Powell drove in Martin from third with a fielder's
choice bunt to tie the score at two.
The
Camels again used some eighth inning magic to take a late lead.
Brittany Stanley walked to start the frame. Love followed with a
single through the left side. Taylor McGee then walked to load the
bases. A fielder choice eliminated the lead runner at home. After a
strikeout, Michael came up with the biggest hit of the inning with
her two-run double to left field to give Campbell the lead for
good.
Stanley (6-1) picked up the win in
the first game for CU with seven innings of two-run softball. Katie
Woodcock was brought in the eighth to pick up her fourth save of
the season.
The
Camels will now return home to take on #18 North Carolina on
Wednesday, March 25 at 6 p.m.
