CREEK,
N.C. – Borislava Nikolova of the Campbell women's tennis team
has been named to the Atlantic Sun Conference All-Freshman team by
the league office on Wednesday.
Nikolova, a native of Sofia,
Bulgaria, tied for the team lead in singles wins as she posted a
14-8 overall record during spring dual play. Nikolova also finished with an
impressive 6-3 mark in Atlantic Sun play while playing in both the
number two and number three positions on the season.
Nikolova also teamed with
Cortney Armitano to record a 7-5 overall doubles record, while
playing in the number three position. She also teamed with Liza Bensimon to
finish with a 3-1 doubles record on the year.
Yevgeniya Stupak of East
Tennessee State was named Atlantic Sun Player of the Year, while
Aline Berkenbrock of North Florida was named the league's Freshman
of the Year.
The Lady Camels (13-9, 4-5
A-Sun) have earned a four seed for the A-Sun Championship. For the fifth-straight year they
will take on fifth seeded Belmont (8-10, 2-8 A-Sun) in the opening
round. The tournament is
being held at the Buddy Hartsell Tennis Center on the campus of
East Tennessee State, in Johnson City, Tennessee. Some first round matches will also be
played at the courts of Milligan College. The Camels and Bruins will begin play
at 9 a.m. at the Hartsell Tennis Center.
