BUIES
CREEK, N.C.
After leading Campbell University to its first Atlantic Sun
Conference men's golf championship in a decade, Vaita Guillaume has
been named to the A-Sun all-league second-team and all-freshman
team.

Head coach John
Crooks' team claimed a berth in the NCAA Southeast Regional at
Sorrento, Fla., by leading the league tournament wire-to-wire. Four Camels finished among the
top 14 individuals, led by Guillaume, who shot 69-69-76214
and placed second.

Guillaume
and fellow frosh Mitch Gray were ranked 14th in the nation by
Golfstat in its latest Freshman Impact ratings. A product of Papeete, Tahiti,
Guillaume earned all-tournament recognition by finishing among the
top five individuals at the A-Sun Championship last month at Keith
Hills Country Club.

He
completed an outstanding spring season by finishing among the top
10 individuals in four of five outings, with three top fives among
those performances, through the league championship.

Guillaume
led the Atlantic Sun Conference with a 72.75 stroke average during
2008-09. He carded a
season-low round of 69 on five occasions during his first
collegiate campaign and was a unanimous selection to the
all-freshman squad along with A-Sun Freshman of the Year (and
tournament champion) Michael Stewart of East Tennessee
State.

The
selection of Guillaume marks the fifth time in the last six years
that a Camel has been named to the A-Sun all-freshman team. During that span, he was
preceded by Zak
Drescher (2008), Matt Evans (2007), Fredric Sundberg (2005) and
Kyle Spahr (2004) on the league's list of top first-year
players.

East
Tennessee
State,
which advanced to the NCAA Central Regional with an at-large berth,
swept the league's player of the year (Seamus Power), coach of the
year (Fred Warren) and freshman of the year awards.
