ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Campbell University men's golf team held
steady on the final day of the Tucker Intercollegiate to finish in
11th place.
UNLV won the 17-team field hosted by the University of New Mexico
at the UNM Championship Course. The Runnin' Rebels shot no worse
than par as a team in each of the three rounds to finish at
21-under par. San Diego State was the only other team to finish
below par as they came in second with a 5-under total.
The Camels finished off their second round this morning at 4-over
292, which turned out to be their best round of the tournament.
They completed the final round at 10-over par to finish the
tournament at 25-over (299-292-298---889).
Derek Ernst and Colby Smith, both of UNLV shared individual
medalist honors by finishing the tournament at 8-under par.
Mitch Gray (69-78-74---221),
Vaita Guillaume
(74-75-72---221), and Victor Hielte
(79-70-72---221) each finished tied for 33rd at 5-over
par to lead the Camels. The first round 69 shot by Mitch
Gray was a new collegiate low 18-hole round.
The Camels will be back in action September 25-27 as they travel to
the North Carolina coast for the Sea Trail Intercollegiate hosted
by Elon.
