MACON, GA.-Mercer posted a 12-0 run over the first 4:21 of the
second half to propel the Bears to a 64-52 win over Campbell in
Atlantic Sun women's basketball action Thursday afternoon inside
the University Center.
The Lady Camels fall to 8-5 overall, ending a three-game winning
streak, and 3-1 in A-Sun play. Mercer moves to 7-7 on the year with
a 4-1 conference record.
Senior forward Geami Britt and freshman
guard Tonisha
Baker led the Lady Camels with 10 points each, pulling down
three rebounds apiece. Baker added two steals in the loss.
Senior center Ashley Williamson paced CU on
the glass with 10 rebounds, her third double-digit rebounding game
of the year. The Colonial Heights, Va. native also chipped in eight

Cannon added six points each.
For the Bears, senior guard Courtney Ford led the charge with 17
points, while recording eight rebounds, five steals and two
assists. Lacy Ramon and LaToya Jackson both poured in 13 points,
with Ramon notching a double-double with 11 rebounds. Jackson also
managed three assists for the Bears.
Sharmesia Smith, Neicey Lewis and Kourtney Carter registered eight,
seven and six points, respectively. Only six players scored for the
Bears in the win.
Campbell took its first lead since the opening minutes of the game
at 8:18 mark on a Cloxton three-pointer, 22-20, but Mercer's Ford
answered on the Bears' next possession, nailing a three of her own.
Jackson then followed with another Bear three, giving Mercer a
26-22 advantage.
After a Mercer missed shot, Campbell clawed back, with Cooper
pulling down a defensive rebound and kicking it out to Cloxton, who
found the streaking Baker for a lay-in with 5:30 on the clock.
Trading blows for the remainder of the half, the Bears escaped the
half with a 33-31 lead.
Out of the break, the Bears connected on three quick buckets within
the first 1:30, growing the Mercer lead to eight, 39-31. The Mercer
run extended, growing to a 12-0 advantage before the Lady Camels
scored their first points of the half at the 15:39 mark on a pair
of Courtney
Cannon free throws.
From there, however, the Bears would hold the Lady Camels at bay,
downing Campbell 64-52.
The Lady Camels will wrap up their road trip on Saturday, traveling
to Kennesaw State for a 5 p.m. matchup.
