BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell's swimming team (2-1) splits its
conference dual meet with North Carolina A&T and Georgia
Southern on Friday, Oct. 15, at the Johnson Aquatic Center. The
Camels defeated North Carolina A&T by a 86-9, but lost to the
Eagles 59-36. Kylie
Warne was able to set a school record in 1,000 free for the
second consecutive meet.
Warne continued the impressive start to her freshman year and
placed second in the 1,000 free with a school record time of
10:44.30. Her time best her previous record of 10:49.20, which was
only set two weeks ago. Warne also won the 200 IM with her time of
2:11.65. Warne also had a third-place finish in the 100 with a time
of 1:01.39.
Fellow freshman Cheriesse
Campbell won a pair of events, the 200 freestyle (1:55.84) and
the 100 butterfly (1:00.29), and finished second in the 500
freestyle (5:08.61).
Senior Ashlyn
Stumpf won the 50 freestyle for Campbell with her time of
25.14.
CU was able to sweep the 100 butterfly with Cheriesse Campbell
winning, freshman Virginia
Dailey placing second (1:00.67) and senior Casey
Umberger finishing third (1:01.92).
The Camels ended the day with 10 top-three individual finishes and
two relay second place rankings. Georgia Southern had a strong
afternoon with 17 top-three finishes and two relay wins. Ali
Campbell led GSU with wins in the 500 and 1,000 free.
Next, Campbell's swimming program continues the busy weekend and
travels to Raleigh to take on North Carolina State on Oct. 16 at
noon.
