Attema and Rachel
Deline each notched personal bests on the day, leading Campbell
to fifth place finishes in the men's and women's portions of the
George Mason Invitational.
Attema lowered his 8K personal record for the second straight
outing, registering a time of 24:36, edging his mark of 24.42.65,
set at the Asics / Winthrop Invitational just two weeks ago.
Sophomore DeLohnni
Nicol-Samuel followed Attema with a 20th place
finish, clocking in at 25:45.
The freshman trio of Morgan
Timiney, Herald
Alvarez and Conner
Mahoney-Ashberrym rounded out Campbell's top-5, taking
25th, 46th and 50th, respectively,
with times of 26:07, 27:26 and 28:10.
Deline's 6K best came at a rate of 22.40.3, taking eighth on the
morning. Sophomore Laura
Verschuren also placed 14th with a time of 23:01.9,
with freshman Samantha
Robbins taking 17th with a 23:18.1 mark.
Freshman Ashley
Matthews took fourth for the Camels with a time of 23:29.0 and
senior Baillie
Locke placed 21st with a 23:29.8.
Lamar took the men's team title, placing four in the top-10,
including the top-three finishers. George Mason claimed the women's
race, led by sophomore Laura Sinclair's 20:45.7.
Up next for the Camels will be the Appalachian State Blue Ridge
Open on Oct. 15.
