Swimming Falls To Duke and North Carolina State

DURHAM, N.C. - Campbell's swimming team (2-4) dropped both portions of its dual meet with N.C. State and Duke on Friday, Oct. 29 in Durham, N.C. The Camels fell to Duke by a 238-49 score and lost to N.C. State 243-44.

Facing two solid ACC opponents the Camels highest finish on the afternoon was a fourth-place finish by freshman Kylie Warne in the 1,000 free (10:43.08). The time was a season best for the Canadian native. Fellow freshman Spencer Hopper placed sixth in the same event with her time of 11:43.13.

Freshman Cheriesse Campbell continued her outstanding opening season and finished fifth in the 500 free (5:12.15). Campbell also placed sixth in the 200 butterfly in a season-best time of 2:12.17. She also finished seventh in the 200 free (1:58.14).

CU's 200 medley relay team of Kaitlyn Burnette, Charlotte Cornet, Virginia Dailey and Ashlyn Stumpf set a season-best time of 1:53.06 in the finished seventh in their event.

Stumpf also had a pair of individual seventh-place finishes for Campbell in the 50 free (24.93) and 100 free (55.05).

The 400 free relay team of Stumpf, Dailey, Kaitlyn Tunstall and Campbell finishing seventh in their event.

Next, Campbell's swimming program returns home to the Johnson Aquatic Center to take on Radford on Nov. 6 at 2 p.m.
