BEACH, FLA. - Sarah Bejgrowicz is tied for second place
individually and Campbell stands in second place on the team leader
board after Friday's first round of the LPGA International/Xavier
Invitational women's golf tournament.
A senior from Lancaster, Pa., Bejgrowicz shot her season-low round
of two-under-par on the par-72, 6084-yard LPGA International
Legends course. She is tied with Carissa Simmons of Montana, one
stroke behind 18-hole leader Mitsuki Katahira of Daytona State, who
shot a three-under 69.
Lauren Howell of Montana is fourth at one-over 73, while Stetson's
Alex Buelow (74) is fifth heading into Tuesday's second round.
Montana leads the 14-school field at 11-over 299. Campbell and
Daytona State are six-strokes behind at 305, while Florida Atlantic
(309) is fourth. Lamar and host Xavier are tied for fifth at 310,
followed by Mercer (312) and Stetson (314).
South Dakota State and Georgetown are tied for ninth place (315),
followed by North Dakota State (318), Samford (329), McNeese State
(338) and Jacksonville (341).
Campbell freshman Maria Jose Benavides and sophomore Teresa Urquizu
are tied for 19th place at six-over 78. Freshman Kaylin Yost is
tied for 30th (79), while junior Michelle Koh is tied for 52nd
(82).
Playing as an individual (and not counting toward the team score),
Campbell senior Sandra Angulo is tied for sixth (75), while
freshman Alexandra Prazak is tied for 71st (87).
The
Camels start Saturday's second round from the first tee at 8:00
a.m., paired with Montana and Daytona State. The 54-hole event
concludes Sunday.
