Volleyball Heads to River City with Postseason on the Line

BUIES CREEK, N.C.-With only two matches remaining in the 2010 volleyball regular season and an Atlantic Sun Tournament berth on the line, Campbell wraps up conference play in Jacksonville, Fla., taking on Jacksonville and North Florida. The Camels will take on JU at 7 p.m. on Friday, followed by North Florida on Saturday at 3 p.m.

Lipscomb (18-6, 7-0 A-Sun), East Tennessee State (23-6, 6-1 A-Sun) and Kennesaw State (14-9, 6-1 A-Sun) have already punched their tickets to the league tournament, while Belmont (11-13, 5-2 A-Sun), Mercer (12-16, 4-3 A-Sun), Campbell (10-15, 4-4 A-Sun) and Jacksonville (13-14, 3-5 A-Sun) remain in a tight battle for the remaining three spots. Florida Gulf Coast (5-16, 2-5 A-Sun) and UNF (5-21, 2-6 A-Sun) also remain in the mix.

Allyson Goldbach leads the Camels with 2.84 kills and 2.72 digs per set, while fellow senior outside hitter Emily Werner tacks on 2.56 kills and 1.82 digs. In A-Sun play, Goldbach has averaged 3.07 kills and 2.97 digs per set, while Werner's kills per frame rate spikes to 2.83.

Middle Blocker Caitlin Bendy, another CU senior, is posted 1.75 kills and 1.05 blocks, good for second in the A-Sun. Joining Bendy on the block is junior Annie Kobeski, who chips in 0.83 per set. Sophomore outside hitter Jordan Reaves also registers 1.97 kills and 2.10 digs per frame for the Camels.

Jacksonville is anchored by freshman setter Kendall Courtney, who is averaging 9.74 assists, 1.93 digs and 0.46 aces per set, while senior middle Aidan Yeager records 2.66 kills and 0.88 blocks per set for the Dolphins. Freshman Alyssa Robertson carries a .286 hitting percentage with 1.84 kills and 1.01 blocks per frame. Junior libero Ashley August is also grabbing 3.45 digs per set.

Sophomore outside hitter Paige Pridgeon paces the Ospreys at 3.80 kills per set, adding 2.69 digs. Pridgeon has taken over 300 more attacks than any other Osprey this season. Senior outside hitter Jessica Catelano, the Ospreys' second-leading attacker, averages 2.27 kills per set with 1.63 digs. Britt Claessens also posts 8.66 assists while Nicole Baran notches 4.18 digs per set.

The A-Sun Tournament is slated for Nov. 18-20 in Ft. Myers, Fla. inside FGCU's Alico Arena.
