BUIES CREEK, N.C. - Campbell's swim team (2-4) returns home to the
Johnson Aquatic Center to take on Radford on Saturday, Nov. 6, at 2
p.m.
The Camels lost in the team's last dual meet to Duke and North
Carolina State on Oct. 29. CU was led by freshman Kylie
Warne, who placed fourth in the 1,000 free. Fellow freshman
Cheriesse Campbell placed in three individual events for the
Camels. Her highest finish was fifth in the 500 free. She also
placed in the 200 butterfly (6th) and 200 free
(7th). Campbell leads CU in four events this season (200
free, 500 free, 1000 free and 200 fly). Warne leads the team in the
100 back, 200 back and 200 IM. Campbell's swimming team has
freshmen leading the team in 11 of the team's 14 events. In the
conference, Cheriesse
Campbell is ranked among the league leaders in five events. Her
highest ranking for the team is the fifth-place ranking in the 500
free.
Radford (1-5) is being led by junior CeCe De La Garza and sophomore
Kathryn Ruch, who both won events in the team's loss to Old
Dominion on Oct. 30. De La Garza won the 100 breast in a personal
best time and Ruch won the 500 free for the Highlanders. Haley
Schweitzer is the team's highest ranked swimmer in the conference
and is 12th in the 200 butterfly. Emily Turner is
currently 13th in the 400 IM.
The Campbell swim program, after this week's meet, stays at home to
take on North Florida on Nov. 12 at 2 p.m.
