As his
senior season nears its end, Kyle Vejraska took a few minutes to
chat about his time at Campbell with CU Athletics Media Services
student assistant, Desiree John.
Question:
Why did you choose to attend Campbell?
Answer: When I came on the site visit (to Campbell), I saw the
program and how it was progressing. I saw myself doing well and
growing with the program in years to come.
Q: How
and why did you decide to attend a different school from your twin
brother, Cory?
A: It was weird, I would have loved to attend the same school with
my brother, but we decided to do what was best for each other. We
decided to go separate schools and it worked out well.
Q: What
do you like most about Campbell?
A: The family I created with my team and close friends.
Q: What
is of the biggest adjustment you had to make when you came to
Campbell?
A: Settling down academically, training myself to study and not
rely on my natural ability becoming a student-athlete.
Q: What
do you do for fun when you're not playing basketball or
studying?
A: I love watching movies and playing other sports like volleyball,
golf and baseball.
Q: How
does it feel to be playing your last home game?
A: It's a mixed emotion, because I'm eager to see what my life has
in store while remember it's the last game, "it's a tough seed to
swallow."
Q: What
is the reason for your success in the classroom?
A: While growing up my parents pressured me and they never settled
for less than A's. Although I didn't always get A's they always
reassure me of my potential.
Q: What
are your plans for after graduation?
A: I want to be involved in basketball in one way or another. I
would love to continue playing and if that doesn't work out, I want
to become a G.A. (Graduate Assistant) at some school and coach at a
collegiate level.
Q: You
play a team sport and you guys have a lot of memories in the locker
room. What is your most memorable experience in the locker
room?
A: Definitely dancing. Everyone dances in the locker room after a
win. If we win we're all dancing.
Q: Do you
have any insecurity, if so what is the biggest one?
A: Being a basketball player you have to be confident, but if I had
to choose something it's the fear of failure.
Q: If you
had to go back in time and change one thing what would it be and
why?
A: I would go back to freshman year and push myself harder knowing
how quickly it ends.
Q: What
is your best sport besides basketball?
A: Baseball
Q: Do you
have any other talents besides playing ball?
A: I'm good at doing anything athletic. I pitch a baseball 90 miles
per hour.
Q: What
type of music do you like and who is your best artist?
A: Rock. My favorite band is Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Q: What
do you miss most about your hometown, Alachua Florida?
A: Going to Gator football games
Q: What
do you like most about your team?
A: Our chemistry off the court, we can do stuff as a team and have
fun enjoying every moment.
