KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Campbell's softball team (4-14-1) fell to No. 19
Tennessee (17-5) by a 9-0 count on Saturday evening at the Sherri
Lee Softball Stadium in Knoxville, Tenn.
Freshman Brittany
Arnn (0-3) took the loss for Campbell. She allowed six runs in
3.2 innings pitched. Cat Hosfield (9-4) picked up the win for
Tennessee with five innings worked and three strikeouts.
Freshman Sarah Forgacs led off
the game for Campbell with an infield single. She and Lauren
Stephan had Campbell's two hits in the game.
The Lady Volunteers got on the board with two runs in the first.
Raven Chavanne laid down a bunt to lead off the frame. Kelly Grieve
followed with an infield single. A wild pitch moved both runners up
a base. Both Chavanne and Grieve scored on Jessica Spigner's
one-out single.
Tennessee added a run to the lead in the third as Tiffany Huff's
RBI single hit off Arnn and went into right field to score Grieve
with the game's third run.
UT added three in the fourth inning on Grieve's three-run home run
after Ashley Andrew and Chavanne reached on singles.
Lauren Gibson added the last three runs for Tennessee with a
three-run home run in the fifth inning.
The Camels will continue play in the Tennessee Invitational and
takes on Tennessee Tech on Sunday afternoon at 11 a.m.
