CREEK, N.C.-Construction continues on Campbell's new track &
field complex, located adjacent to the John W. Pope Jr. Convocation
Center, Johnson Natatorium and the Campbell Cross Country Course.

The completed 400-meter layout will include eight, 42-inch lanes on
its polyurethane surface. Features will include a water jump for
the steeple chase, high-jump "D" area, pole vault runway, two shot
put rings, one discus/hammer ring. There will be one long jump
runway adjacent to the home stretch with a sand pit on each end to
allow for wind direction changes.
The $1.2 million track facility, which will eventually include
bleachers and a storage building, is located just off N.C. 27,
behind the John W. Pope Jr. Convocation Center and in front of the
Nathan Johnson Natatorium.
The construction will be completed in two phases, with the
$850,000 eight-lane lane track projected to be completed in
December or early January and the bleachers and storage building by
spring 2011.
