BUIES CREEK, N.C. -- Two home dates, plus a neutral site contest
with 2008 NCAA Champion Maryland, highlight Campbell University's
2010 spring men's soccer exhibition schedule.
The slate opens on Tuesday, March 16 with 1 7:00 p.m. home game
against international touring side Sports Ed at the Eakes Athletic
Complex.
First-year head coach Steve Armas will then face his alma mater,
the University of Maryland, on Sat., Mar. 27 in a 2:00 p.m.
kick-off at BB&T Park in Winston-Salem. Maryland won the 2008
NCAA title and advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2009 NCAA
College Cup.
Campbell then hosts Division II Coker, last fall's Conference
Carolinas champion, on Thursday, Apr. 1 at 7:00 p.m.
Louisburg College, which finished 4th in the 2009 NJCAA national
tournament, will visit Buies Creek for a 7:00 p.m. kick-off on
Wed., Apr. 7.
Southern Conference runner-up Elon will host Campbell and NCAA
Division II national runner-up Lees-McRae in a triangular match on
Thurs., Apr. 15. Campbell will play Lees-McRae in a 60-minute
match at 6:15 p.m., then face the host Phoenix in a 60-minute
contest at 7:30 p.m.
The spring schedule wraps up on Wed., Apr. 21 with an 8:00 p.m.
start at Virginia Commonwealth.
Twelve letter winners return from last year's Fighting Camel squad
that finished 8-10-1 overall, 7-1-1 in the A-Sun and won its
second-straight league regular season title. Over the past five
years, Campbell has produced a 32-5-5 won-lost-tied record in
Atlantic Sun regular season play, tops in the conference.
Among the top returnees are second-team all-conference selections
Mitchell Cardenas and Khalil Johnson. Three Camels earned A-Sun
all-freshman team honors - Cardenas, Justin Smith and Keegan
Terry.
